Project Highlight

I produced KORE as my final year project at Northumbria University. The film, a body horror story about a girl whose body deteriorates due to a new mutation, required a strong production framework to bring its intense visual storytelling to life. This project was filmed during the COVID-19 pandemic, which meant strict health regulations, logistical obstacles, and ensuring compliance with both university and government guidelines.
 

As Producer, I created detailed call sheets, risk assessments, and a costume and prop breakdown. I contacted local authorities and councils to secure filming permits and scheduled regular meetings with the cast and crew to ensure everyone was aligned with the production plan.
 

Given the restrictions of filming during lockdown, I was also responsible for ensuring that all crew members had the necessary COVID-19 certifications to comply with university safety regulations. I also took the initiative to book and organise all required equipment, working closely with Nathan Goodison (DoP) and Catalina (Sound Recordist) to make sure they had everything they needed for a smooth shoot.
 

On set, I managed the shooting schedule, kept track of scene logs, and ensured efficiency by making necessary cuts to shots that could have otherwise slowed down production. Despite my efforts, our final shoot day ended up being a 13-hour session, which was longer than expected. Although this was a difficult challenge, I took away valuable lessons in time management and contingency planning for future productions

Taking on the role of Producer when others were hesitant gave me firsthand experience in problem-solving, leadership, and crisis management. This project reinforced my ability to lead a team under challenging circumstances and make sure that a creative vision is realised without compromising performance..
